3 Amazing Beauty Tips for You!
I am pondering these verses today! I’m sharing my thoughts on 3 Amazing Beauty Tips for You that will help you today.
1 Peter 3:1-4 (ESV)
Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
I want the Thursday beauty posts that I share to encourage you in the areas of inner and outer beauty. Here’s my main points for this post 🙂
1. Be beautiful outside. Take care of your body and spirit.
When I am tired, I am less than… (ahem) kind. When I am hungry, I am less than sweet. I am continuing to learn how to nourish my body, exercise, rest and take breaks from work. It makes a world of a difference in my marriage and home. Fill your soul. Pray. Read Scriptures from the Word or other sources of encouragement. Stay filled so you can overflow.
2. Speak when necessary. Be silent when necessary. Be gentle and quiet in spirit.
This doesn’t mean you can’t have a strong personality or be outgoing, but it’s all how and when you use it. There is beauty in rest. There is beauty in deferring to the other person. Again, not perfect here. But, I share to help us all keep growing.
I’m passionate about this and have shared it before. As women we have a glorious opportunity. We are influential in our roles as women, wives, mothers, in our work, as leaders and more.
We are to help our husbands, families, friends and others see Christ. It’s an awesome responsibility and privilege. We can reflect Him in beautiful ways. And it’s not always with what we say. For someone who loves to speak and talk (whew……sometimes the struggle is very real.)
Sometimes the best way to help my husband and be beautiful to him is to stop talking, listen and serve. He likes quiet, tranquility and peace. He enjoys planning and loves reliability in our home life.
3. Be beautiful outside.
Yes, it says don’t let your adorning be external. Some women use that as an excuse to give up. Sorry, but that’s not good. Don’t “only” be beautiful physically. But be beautiful! Look your best and put the effort in to be presentable.
Then the second half of the verses are about beauty. True beauty. It is about being beautiful from the inside out…..not only the inside.
The first part of these verses talk about being subject to our own husbands. In a world of extremes when it comes to the value of women, I love these verses!
There is clarity and simplicity for wives in these verses.
Obey your own husband. (You know as long as it’s nothing illegal…)
That’s how husbands who may not know Jesus can come to Him, by their wives and their behavior. For all men to get encouragement, they need their wives respect.
Now, I am not going to pretend like I don’t fail at this often because I do. My husband and I have conflict like anyone else. Daily….(being real) because we are human. Two very different humans with completely different ways of seeing, communicating and more. You get the point.
We all have keep trying and when we do fail (because we will) forgive and receive forgiveness. Wash, rinse, repeat.
The cool part I continue to learn is that my husband is incredibly encouraging in my gifts to speak, write, teach and share. He supports me with his actions and gifts in amazing ways! So, I don’t think God is saying that women can’t ever speak in these verses. It’s just how we communicate.
These ramblings have a purpose I promise. This post isn’t for me to brag on my husband (but I do enjoy doing so-lol) but to share and encourage you today. I hope this message was clear for you as it was a mix of beauty and marriage!
Alright friends, that’s what I am thinking on beauty today. What about you? What are your 3 amazing beauty tips (inner and/or outer) for today?
