Know this, you were created for growth. I was created for growth.
For as long as I can remember I have always loved flowers, plants, and nature. Maybe it is because I was born in Hawaii. My favorite flower is the hibiscus. I have always been drawn to bright colors, warm weather, sunshine and tropical cultures. Flowers, plants, and trees all grow. I love how God has created His beautiful creation. It teaches us beautiful truths.
Like the plants, we can always grow, change, transform, and get better. We were created for growth.
This week my husband and I attended a training class. The instructor shared an intriguing story. She said that she is introverted. She used to get nervous speaking in front of crowds for trainings. She used to think things like “no one was listening,” or “they don’t want to be here,” or “they don’t care what I am saying.”
As she would think these things, her voice would start to get shaky. She’d stumble over her words and lose her place. Over time, she changed her thinking. Instead of being anxious, she thinks, “These people are here to learn”, “I have something valuable to share on this topic,” and “My work is important and training people matters.” Today, she has more confidence, and her presentations are excellent.
She embraced growth. She grew and changed her thinking so her actions became more confident. She was created for growth.
If she would have allowed her thoughts to hold her back from teaching this class, we in the audience would have missed out on an opportunity to learn from her expertise.
God Created Us for Growth
God has some awesome truth in His Word in regards to growth.
We grow in many ways: through experiences, through relationships, through hearing and meditating on His Word. Never let anyone (including yourself) tell you that you cannot change, grow, or develop.
Proverbs 1:5 (AMP) “The wise will hear and increase their learning, And the person of understanding will acquire wise counsel and the skill [to steer his course wisely and lead others to the truth].”
Proverbs 11:24 (AMP) “There is the one who [generously] scatters [abroad], and yet increases all the more; And there is the one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want and poverty.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 (AMP) “Now He who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed for sowing [that is, your resources] and increase the harvest of your righteousness [which shows itself in active goodness, kindness, and love].”
Ephesians 3:16-19 (AMP) “May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality], so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].”
God has created us to grow in love, grow in the fruit of the Spirit, grow in knowledge, grow in wisdom. He’s made us to grow to be more like Christ daily. He’s created us to grow in our health, our families, our marriages, our callings, and every other area of our life.
I know God is urging me to grow even more too. I will never stop learning and doing all I can to become better than yesterday. The amazing part about growing is that we have the Helper, the Holy Spirit. He does the work inside of us, transforming us, as we cooperate with Jesus.
It’s a blessing that the Lord has given us. It is a great gift that we were created for growth.
I love that I have the opportunity to share with the women who read these blog posts, who read my book, and who I have the opportunity to coach. You encourage me to never stop growing because, the more I grow, the more I can share. We never stop growing.
I could relate to the instructor of our class because influencing others takes courage. You have to be bold when you speak, write, create, and teach. I also can get the negative thoughts when I am about to create, speak, write or coach. But, I also continue to learn that focusing on the truth is the way to grow.
I am learning that growth takes time. And little by little, the blooms of the seeds we planted start to show.
What Is Stunting Your Growth?
Who needs your art? Your words? Your encouragement, your gifts, your talents, and your time? Are you stunting your growth because you are focused on people who don’t need what you have? Focus on who does!
When you walk in your purpose, there will be opposition from the enemy, and our own insecurities can attempt to take control. But can I encourage you today?…
Let’s grow together! Maybe He’s causing you to grow in your relationships, your marriage, or your season of singleness. Maybe He’s causing you to grow at work, in ministry, or with your children.
Growth is beautiful, but the process can be challenging depending on your degree of openness to change.
The joy I receive after I write, create, speak or share is tremendous. The more I do it the more my confidence is built up to continue the work.
What has God called you to do that is causing you to “embrace growth”?
How does knowing that He is with you in the growing process give you hope? Are you patient with yourself and others in the growing process? Why or why not? Leave me a comment below!
