Independence Day Blog Post: Freedom and a Photo Shoot
Hello Beautiful! Happy Independence Day!!!
So, in honor of Independence Day, I had a fun opportunity to do a photo shoot with my new friend Jessica in her backyard. I am working with her as an assistant part-time during the week when I am not working at Coastal Spine and Wellness Family Chiropractic or on Radiant Purpose. Jessica is a LulaRoe consultant and super gifted with fashion, styling, creative direction, and more. I loved the “Nicole” dress that I got to wear and it was a great experience.
If you haven’t heard of this brand, please check them out! Their clothing is modest, bright, comfortable and made for REAL women with real bodies of all different shapes and sizes… You know, curves and all, which I love!
The theme of freedom really stuck with me after that shoot! Independence and freedom are themes that are not just for the 4th of July, but they are woven all throughout Scripture.
I am so thankful for the freedom we have in this country but also the freedom that I have in Christ. There is so much to be thankful for. This shoot was an appropriate reminder of the joy and freedom we have in Him. Celebrate that today and every day!
I couldn’t help but think to myself, “How often do I still hold back because of fears and insecurities?”
I’ve come a long way, but I still continue to grow in these areas, and dependence on the Lord. I teach on them often because I know they are blocks to walking in the freedom we’ve been given in Christ.
I felt the Lord really encourage me that that photo shoot was an earthly example of a heavenly principle. Wearing red, white and blue, I was representing the United States and the LulaRoe brand. In Jesus, I am always clothed in His righteousness and representing the kingdom of heaven.
Isaiah 61:10 (AMP)
I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,
My soul will exult in my God;
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has covered me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom puts on a turban,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
During the shoot, I took direction from Jessica because it was inspired by her vision. Yet I had the freedom to “pose” and move in my own unique ways to model the clothing.
Jesus has created a plan for my life from beginning to end. He is the Author of His “photo shoot” for my life. He directs and leads me where to go, yet He gives me creative license to execute His plans in ways that are unique to my strengths, personality and gifts.
He has given me freedom as a gift to advance His purposes, bring Him glory and draw others to Him.
Galatians 5:1 (AMP)
“It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].”
If I would have been insecure or shy during this photo shoot, the purpose of displaying the clothing and the brand would have been missed.
If I don’t speak, write or share as God leads me to, I miss opportunities to display His goodness to others who are searching for Jesus Christ.
So, those are my Independence Day photo shoot lessons.
Freedom in Christ means the freedom to obey as He leads in our lives and display His goodness to the world.
In what ways do you struggle to allow Jesus to be the “Creative Director” of His “photo shoot” for your life?
