Wednesday Wisdom

Today I wanted to share some wisdom from the Scriptures and a devotional book that the Lord uses to encourage me often. You will hear me reference Jesus Calling by Sarah Young a lot. It was first given to me when I was a Freshman in college at Liberty University by roommate Molly. Since then I’ve had so many copies of the various versions of this devotional. There are Bible verses for study and meditation. There is always encouragement, truth and wisdom from the Holy Spirit in these words. I also am prompted in my journal time with the Lord to meditate on the verses and apply them to my life. He’s so Faithful to teach me exactly what I need every time.

Jesus Calling for January 4

The one for this morning was from Jesus Calling: Morning and Evening that I got for Christmas last year from my husband Luke. From this January 4 devotion I was especially challenged and encouraged by the themes of trusting Jesus and overcoming fear. The line “When you view events from this perspective- through the Light of My universal Presence— fear loses its grip on you. Adverse circumstances become growth opportunities when you affirm your trust in Me no matter what.”

Overcoming Fear & Trusting Jesus

This week especially I have been attacked with fear. My husband and I have returned back to the States after living in Haiti for over a year.  In the midst of the battle Jesus has been faithful to bring brothers and sisters in the Lord to pray, speak truth and war with me. I’m so thankful for the Body of Christ. I believe the intense warfare I’ve been experiencing has been in connection to the new territory and places physically, in life, marriage, work, and ministry that my husband, myself and many others are entering into.

Prayer, the truth of God’s Word and worship are keys to breakthrough.

Scriptures for Reflection

I wanted to share these verses from today’s devotion.

Psalms 63:2-3 says, “So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary; beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life my lips will praise you.”

Isaiah 40:10-11 says “Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.”

Psalm 139: 7-10 ” Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.”

What precious promises and timeless words from the Bible! I find so much strength and comfort from the Word. I need it daily and I find that even more so when I’m in a time of great change and transition.

The enemy knows he can target me when I’m tired or stressed. A sweet friend encouraged me this week that “whatever your problem is the Lord has the remedy.”

How about you? What do you need today? Peace, comfort, or healing? Whatever it is, God is our Beloved Father. He will answer and provide.
